Research Participation Opportunity – June 2022

All articles requesting research participation must be approved by the ISSTD Scientific Committee prior to posting. This proposal was approved by the ISSTD Scientific Committee in May 2021.

ISSTD member Negar Fani, Ph.D. is looking for participants for her research study. The study title is “Mechanistic Interventions and Neuroscience of Dissociation” and the purpose of the study is to test the use of novel mind-body interventions that use exteroceptive feedback to target brain networks involved with attentional control and interoceptive awareness in dissociative trauma-exposed people. Study Visits:

  • 2 magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans (pre/post intervention sessions)
  • 8 brief (30-45 minute) intervention sessions
  • 2 clinical assessments
  • 2 follow up visits (3 and 6-month)

Participants must:

  • Be able to attend study visits that take place in Atlanta, Georgia
  • Be at least 18 years old but not older than 65
  • Be able to read, speak and comprehend English
  • Have been exposed to a traumatic event and are experiencing feelings of body disconnection or disconnection from surroundings
  • No pacemaker or other implanted devices, or non-orthopedic metal implants
  • Not have a history of seizures or other neurological disorders, bipolar disorder, or schizophrenia

Participants have the opportunity to earn up to $480 if they complete all parts of the study.
