ISSTD Annual Conference 2024 Call for Proposals

Greetings Everyone! We are excited to announce that the ISSTD 2024 Annual Conference will be held in Frisco, Texas, USA, March 21-25, 2024, and the Call for Proposals is now open!

The theme for this conference is, “The Healing Power of Dignity in the Treatment and Research of Complex Trauma and Dissociation.”

The conference is designed to have workshops, plenaries, panels, forums, symposiums, posters, and paper sessions with vast educational opportunities. Social events and the Society Lounge will offer occasions to meet up with friends and colleagues from around the world.

A compassionate, therapeutic, well-bounded relationship is the one thing that is consistently shown to facilitate positive change. As dignity is considered an antidote to shame, a society that can support dignity will minimize shame for its citizens, and reduce inter-personal and inter-generational transmission of trauma. Children often experience shame because their behaviors are under constant observation and judgment from others. For many, dignity involves understanding their behaviors and helping them understand themselves. Dignity thus becomes an important factor in understanding and addressing complex trauma and dissociation. The conference aims to explore the healing power of dignity in the treatment and research of complex trauma and dissociation as the central theme.

How does dignity apply to your setting? In what ways do you establish, support, and nurture dignity throughout the therapeutic and research processes? The Call for Proposals for the conference is open June 30 – August 15, 2023. We invite creative, innovative, and exciting presentations, papers, and posters that represent all aspects of understanding, researching, and treating complex trauma, and dissociation, in addition to the conference theme. Content levels of beginning/introductory, intermediate, and advanced are welcome. We encourage solid scientific and clinically grounded presentations.

Please note that there have been updates to the submission requirements, which are reflected on the Submission Guidelines page of the Annual Conference website. The Call for Proposals will not be extended beyond August 15, so make sure to get your submissions in early. All presenters who submit before August 1 will be entered into a drawing for a free year of membership with ISSTD!

We plan to livestream select presentations from this conference for virtual participation but all presenters must present live in-person in Frisco. No presenters will be streamed into the conference.
