ISSTD is unique in that many of our projects and initiatives are volunteer-led. Members have the opportunity to get involved with ISSTD in a variety of ways, with opportunities that fit different time commitments, interests, and skill sets. A great way to begin your volunteer journey is through a small project opportunity.
Small project opportunities are short-term and typically require a limited time commitment, but they play an important role in supporting ISSTD and provide a great way to connect with other members. Once you complete a small project, you may have a better idea of the types of projects you enjoy and the areas where you would like to contribute. From there, you can continue your journey by joining a committee, taking on another small project, or exploring other volunteer opportunities.
Our Volunteer Center is very much a choose-your-own-adventure experience! We want you to find an opportunity that is the right fit for you.
There are currently several opportunities available. If you are interested in helping with marketing and promotion for the Annual Conference, consider volunteering with the Annual Conference Committee – Marketing Volunteer Position. This opportunity is open to all ISSTD members.
Are you a student or early career professional interested in attending the Annual Conference? Consider becoming a Conference Ambassador! Ambassadors assist with registration and other conference-related tasks before the conference and during breaks. In return, ambassadors receive a discount on conference registration. This is also a great opportunity to meet fellow members and build connections within the ISSTD community. Learn more and register.
Have you completed a small project and are ready to get more involved? There are many opportunities to contribute to specific committees and projects. If you enjoy writing and sharing information and resources with others, consider volunteering with ISSTD News in a role such as Content Coordinator. Interested in helping plan and develop virtual conferences and seminars? The Virtual Training Committee may be a great fit for you.
There are also opportunities to take on leadership roles within ISSTD. If you are already involved with a committee, SIG, ROC, or other ISSTD activities and have been a member for at least three consecutive years, you may be interested in serving on the ISSTD Board of Directors. Keep an eye out for the annual call for Board nominations for information about eligibility, the nomination process, and deadlines.
