During 2021 our SIG has held several successful bimonthly support group meetings. A series of them were on the parallel processes that therapists and care givers have been going through during the pandemic with their clients. We were able to support each other as well as jointly partaking in fun and relaxing self-care practices lead by cochair Cynthia Wilson. The community feel of the group was astounding!

We have also had bimonthly exec meetings that were open to all SIG members. We keep them open to welcome anyone to provide ideas, ask questions, share thoughts or concerns. We post about the exec and the self-care meetings on the SIG page of the ISSTD world.

We also had a total of 3 presentations done by our SIG for ISSTD this year.  One was a webinar and two presentations were at the virtual regional conference. All presentations can be viewed in the online learning centre and we encourage you to watch them. We also would love to have any SIG members let us know about presentations they might like to facilitate or co-facilitate in this coming year!

One very important item to look for in 2022 is the 2min survey we have recently sent out to poll the SIG membership about their needs. Another important aspect of the poll is a vote on the SIG name. The leadership noticed over the last year that the name of the SIG has been commonly abbreviated to be the VT SIG leaving out the self-care aspect that is so important. With the continued need for our SIG and its focus on self-care and resilience within the therapeutic community, we hope to begin 2022 with a new name which reflects this focus: Vicarious Trauma and Resilience (VTR) SIG.
