Update on 2023 Fundraising for Five ISSTD Funds

In 2023, ISSTD developed an ambitious Fundraising Plan aimed at raising funds for our General Fund as well as our four restricted funds through direct donations and fundraising events. Thank you to the generosity of ISSTD members, as well as non-members who donated in memory of several ISSTD members, we anticipate meeting or exceeding our fundraising goals for almost all funds. Your donations help us to continue to provide programming, introduce new offerings and provide funding for training, education projects, and research without raising the cost of membership annually.

General Fund

In 2023, ISSTD introduced our recurring donor program, the Mosaic Society, which recognizes all those who establish monthly donations of $15 or more to the General Fund. In the first year we saw 16 members join the Mosaic Society.

  • Nicole Black
  • Jonathan Cleveland
  • Coral Compagnoni
  • Lawrence Compagnoni
  • D. Michael Coy
  • Mary Pat Hanlin
  • Jillian Hosey
  • Susan Hykes
  • Sheldon Itzkowitz
  • Peter Maves
  • Michael Salter
  • Barbara Shaya
  • Valerie Sinason
  • Tally Tripp
  • Cheri Yadon
  • Eva Tierstein Young

We encourage all ISSTD Members to consider establishing a recurring donation of any size or to consider making a one-time donation this holiday season.

David Caul Graduate Research Fund

The David Caul Graduate Research Fund is designed to support research that is primarily concerned with dissociation or closely related topics. Applications for this fund are open each year in May and ISSTD awards up to $3000 annually to fund graduate and undergraduate honors student research projects.

This year we held our second annual raffle at the Annual Conference to support this fund. Raffle baskets included a Conference Survival Basket, a 2024 Annual Conference Basket and a One Year All-Access Pass and & Signed Book Basket. The raffle raised more than $1,000 for this Fund. Thank you to all of those who donated items for these baskets, helped sell tickets at the conference or purchased tickets!

We also introduced a SIG & ROC Fundraising Drive this November to raise money for this Fund. During the month of November, 14 members donated $845 with the Organized and Extreme Abuse SIG earning the most points to win a free three hour webinar for all those who donated from the SIG. Thank you to everyone who donated during this drive.

The David Caul Graduate Research Fund remains about $1500 short of meeting its goal for this year and is the fund most in need of donations at this time. If you are considering a year end gift, we encourage you to think about donating to this Fund so we can continue to provide needed funding for student research.

Fridley Fund

The Fridley Fund was created to defray the cost of one training activity offered through ISSTD for students who would otherwise be unable to obtain appropriate instruction in the treatment of complex trauma and dissociation. ISSTD will have its first call for applications for this Fund in 2024.

In 2023, we hosted our first Ask the Expert Series to raise money for this Fund. This series of six 90-minute sessions with leaders in the field D. Michael Coy & Jennifer Madere, Colin Ross, Kathy Steele, Joy Silberg & Fran Waters, Bethany Brand & Frank Putnam, and Heather Hall & Michael Salter raised more than $2000 for the Fridley Fund. We are in the process of planning our 2024 Ask the Expert Series which will start in April and we welcome any suggestions on who you would like to see as part of this series.

Research and Education Fund

The Research and Education Fund (formerly the Development Fund) was created to support education, assessment, treatment, research and awareness of dissociative disorders. The fund was established to address the lack of education and research in the area of complex trauma and recovery. This fund is available to professionals including clinicians and researchers and we anticipate having our first call for applications for this fund in 2024.

In March 2023, in celebration of DID Awareness Day, we hosted our third annual webinar for the public which raised funds for this Fund along with our partners, An Infinite Mind, Beauty After Bruises, and Blue Knot Foundation. More than $4,000 was raised during this event with just over $1000 of that being donated to ISSTD.

Goodwin Educational Fund

The Goodwin Educational Fund was created to defray the cost of one training activity offered through ISSTD for professionals who would otherwise be unable to obtain appropriate instruction in the treatment of complex trauma and dissociation. Applications for this Fund are open twice a year.

After the success of our coffee tasting event at the 2022 Annual Conference, this year we introduced our Taste of Louisville event at the 2023 Annual Conference. This event featured food and beverages famous in the Louisville area and each attendee got to take home a special ISSTD logoed cocktail glass. This event sold out and raised $1,500 for this Fund. We are looking forward to our Taste of Texas event at the 2024 Annual Conference and tickets are now on sale when you register for the conference. Tickets are limited and we anticipate them selling out so we encourage you to purchase them early to join us for this fun event for a great cause!

Again, thank you to everyone who has donated directly or by purchasing tickets to an event this year. Your support allows us to continue provide needed funding and create programming as well as other member benefits. Membership Sponsorship Program

In addition to donations to our five funds, ISSTD introduced a new way to donate in 2023 by introducing our new member sponsorship program. This new sponsorship program allows ISSTD members to sponsor the membership of an individual or individuals who lack the financial resources to join or renew. By sponsoring a member, you will actively contribute to the professional development and success of a new member. Sponsorship also helps in cultivating a strong sense of international camaraderie and community within the Society. When members support and uplift each other, it creates a community that fosters collaboration, knowledge sharing, and collective advancement.

We are now accepting pledges from those wishing to sponsor an individual or individuals. Please complete the form linked below to provide additional information about your interest in sponsorship. ISSTD will match sponsors with an individual or individuals based on the responses in this form. We anticipate that matching will begin in early 2024.
