Public Health Committee – Committee Member
The Public Health Committee is looking for ISSTD members to support the development of the ISSTD’s approach to engaging with survivor and lived experience communities. Key skills include a familiarity with lived experience engagement, as well as ISSTD’s core mission, purpose, and values. A background in co-design and stakeholder collaboration, capacity building, and relationship building is preferred. This work will include meeting with organisations for people living with complex trauma and dissociation and working collaboratively with the Public Health Committee and the ISSTD Board to inform the ISSTD’s lived experience framework. This framework is a priority under the 2024 – 2026 ISSTD strategic plan. This role will involve approximately 1 hour of volunteer work per month.
The ISSTD Public Health Committee’s role is to: examine the public health dimensions and implications of complex trauma and dissociation; identify opportunities for ISSTD to contribute to primary prevention and early intervention for those at increased risk of complex trauma & dissociative disorders; advance an intersectional public health framework that recognizes the contribution of oppression, disadvantage and discrimination to complex trauma and dissociation; promote evidence-based strategies for primary prevention and early intervention for those at risk of developing complex trauma and dissociative disorders; develop training, resources, and educational content related to the public health implications of complex trauma and dissociation; and provide a platform for diverse views of the understanding of complex trauma and dissociation through webinars, conferences.
