Invitation to Participate in Research: Practitioner Health and Well-Being in the Field of Trauma and Dissociation

Are you a researcher, advocate, clinician, or other professional working with dissociative people? How adequately did your education prepare you for the reality of your career? Would you like to share any of this with an early-career researcher within the field?

My name is Thoriere (“Thor”) Rice, and I am a senior undergraduate student at Hampshire College. Some of you may know me through my involvement with the ISSTD as a student member and as a volunteer. The written component of my self-designed senior (Division III) project, “Investigating higher education’s impact on the health outcomes of professionals in the field of trauma and dissociation,” centers our field’s relationship to higher education, pre-professional training, and the ongoing crisis of inpatient healthcare faced by those we work to support.

In order to evaluate the current state of professional work with dissociative disorders and their associated subspecialties, I would like to interview interested parties for 30-60 minutes each. I want to report on your careers, your educational experiences, and your past and current support needs, as well as your health and well-being, in a respectful and anonymous manner. I hope this work will raise awareness of the role institutions play in shaping our field more widely.

If interested, please contact me via email at connect@thoriere.com by Wednesday, April 8th, 2026.

Be well always,

Thoriere “Thor” Rice
