We would like to introduce you to the Education and Training Oversight Committee (ETOC)! The ETOC, which began meeting in January 2025, is ISSTD’s newest committee charged by the Board to coordinate ISSTD’s educational components across its various education and training opportunities, in alignment with the current strategic plan. This includes assessing and updating ISSTD’s educational policies and procedures, as well as ensuring that the different programs are complementary in their functioning. Revenue from education and training has become a significant portion of ISSTD’s funding, and as the number and complexity of education and training programs grow, consistency and coordination between them is becoming increasingly important.
Chairs of the following committees serve as members on the ETOC to represent their committee or program:
- Annual Conference Committee
- Virtual Book Club
- EMDR Training Faculty
- Virtual and Regional Conference Committee
- Australia/New Zealand Regional Conference Committee
- Professional Training Program Faculty
- Public Health Committee
- Webinar Committee
- Scientific Committee
- Psychiatric Training Task Force
Thus far in 2025, the ETOC has worked towards the implementation of a standardized Training and Event Code of Conduct across education and training programs, assessed factors affecting the Annual Conference’s financial performance, clarified processes for ensuring timely receipt and review of videos that are included in presentations during ISSTD’s conferences, and supported the Virtual Book Club’s succession in leadership.
Our next projects include:
- Standardizing hiring procedures for ISSTD’s faculty members.
- Formally assessing evaluations and feedback from participants across programs.
- Increasing collaboration and communication between ISSTD’s education- and training-related programs as this pertains to program planning and the sharing of resources and information.
As leadership of the ETOC, we are committed to ensuring that ISSTD continues its mission to provide leading-edge professional education about the phenomenology, diagnosis, and treatment of complex trauma and dissociation.
